Kananaskis Lake Elopement with Family

Kananaskis Lake elopement with family, Sara & Jesse.

When Sara and Jesse met me at their elopement spot in Kananaskis, Alberta on their elopement day, I was greeted with warm, friendly smiles and virtual hugs (thanks Covid). I knew this was going to be a good day, even near the beginning stages of planning this Kananaskis Lake elopement with them.

Despite COVID-19 and how it affected their original plans — this elopement, celebrating their love, their close friends and family gathering together, the realization that today was the day when they were truly committing their lives to each other (after being together for years) — we couldn’t help but stop and stare at the beauty of it all.

We could hear birds in the distance, could feel the presence of the still, calm lake, and be completely surrounded by nature and each other. It was beautiful and so intimate.

Sara walked down the aisle with her father, which was a beautiful forest trail, and everyone was quiet and watched as Jesse welcomed her into his arms in front of the lake. They exchanged vows, made promises, and declared their love for each other in front of their closest people. I looked around and everyone was either happy crying or had the biggest, most supportive smile on their face. It was absolutely magical.

They finished their ceremony with their “I do’s”, and everyone cheered and shouted with Joy for Sara and Jesse!

After the ceremony…

Right after their intimate ceremony, we took some group and family photos. After that, we headed for their couple’s photographs. How cute are they?! *cry face emoji*. They said they were so shy of the camera but look at how natural they look! I’m not about the awkward posing prompts at all. But rather the candid, emotion-full, meaningful photos. We walked around the location and I documented and photographed these two. Their smiles, their joy, their excitement, and everything else they felt.

Then we headed into the forest, where their little reception-type celebration was set up. They shared toasts, tears, food, drinks, and many many happy chats and smiles.

I’m so honored I was a part of this beautiful, intimate Kananaskis Lake elopement! It was the perfect place for the romantic, outdoorsy elopement feel they were going for and I’m so happy I got to plan it with them.
